Santa Stories and North Pole Secrets

Santa's First Christmas Gift

A very long time ago I was standing outside smoking my pipe. That was before doctors discovered that it's bad for you.

Anyway looking up at the sky I saw something crazy weird, impossible even .

You know how the sun and the stars rise in the east and travel across the sky setting in the west. I saw a light in the sky that was moving west to east. Now this was long before airplanes and satellites so I was really curious.

I set out to follow that light. I walked for 3 days following it. Then I  when I met 2 friends of mine. They were riding camels and luckily for me that had an extra one . We rode the camels for 44 days following the light , we actually started calling it a star but even now I don't know what it really was.

One night the star seemed to slow down and stop. As we got closer a beam of light shone into the centre of a small town on the edge of the desert.

We entered the town and who do you think we found in a manger: that's right the baby JESUS!

I gave him my very first Christmas present, it was gold by the way.

After giving our gifts we left the holy family in peace. You can wear out your welcome with new mum's quickly.

Anyway the three of us were outside smoking our pipes( still didn't know it was dangerous).

Do you know what?

That star started to move again!

This time it wasn't moving east to west or west to east or even north to south.

It was moving south to north.

I looked at my 2 friends and said let's keep following it, it's led us to the son of God what other wonders will it reveal to us.

How I became Santa

I'm not sure I mentioned it at the beginning of the story but all 3 of us were kings.

I used to be the king of Syria , but it was much more friendly when I was ruling it.

My friends said they had to get back to their kingdoms and they headed home . Sadly they took all the camels so I was back to walking.

As I moved northward I had to change my clothing. Gone were my flowing silk robes, I grabbed myself in heavy wool and animal skins to stay warm.

I followed that star for many many years but every December 25 I would stop and give small gifts to any children that might be around. I did this to celebrate that first gift I gave to the baby Jesus.

One night I was walking through a blinding snowstorm. My head grew heavy, my sight grew dim . It was time to stop for the night.

When I awoke I was surrounded by a lot of small people , I didn't know what they were but I was sure they weren't human.

They weren't very big but there was a lot of them, I was quite nervous. After jabbering in a language I couldn't understand until one stepped forward and proclaimed in an odd funny voice "Let's take him to Master Leon, Master Leon will know what to do with him"

I hadn't noticed in the storm but I had

wandered into a village or town. There were cute little homes and shops nestled in between huge warehouses.  I got more and more nervous as they surrounded me and marched me down the Main Street.

At the end of the street there was a huge castle, like Cinderella's castle you see on Disney.

As I walked up the stairs , my fear grew and grew. The huge oak doors opened as if by magic: I was terrified.

At this point I have to ask if you can keep a secret. You see you're going to find out my name, my real name the one my mum and dad gave me.

I've been called many different names over the years: Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Father Frost Pere Noel and many many more.

Back to the story

As I entered I heard a voice call out. As soon as I heard him all my fears and trepidation left me, I could tell by the sound of his voice he was a kind and gentle soul.

Santos Casper , I've been watching you for a long while . I'm impressed by your Love of children.

We have a big problem here at the North Pole and I think you might be the solution .

Did you happen to notice all the warehouses in town . I replied that they're had to miss because they're huge.  He explained that they were all completely full of toys.

He went on " I bet you didn't know that elves build toys instinctually. The same way a beaver will chew down a tree to dam a stream to make a pond so he can build a lodge to live in.

Elves are like that but with toy building. They happily make toys day and night.

I would like you to deliver one present to every good little boy and girls in the world on Christmas Eve.

Flabbergasted I said "Master Leon I love children and making them happy by giving gifts but I think what you ask is impossible.

I've been walking a really long time . I haven't seen an adult never mind a child. There no way on earth I could do what you ask".

What he replied changed everything, changed the world in fact.

"What if I lent you Elfish magic for one night that would make it possible".

I was dumbfounded , I really wanted to say yes.

I wondered aloud "how will this all work ,I've got so many questions".

"Follow me through that door "he said and "I'll explain everything and answer all your questions".

But that's a story for another time.......
